Here are answers to some frequently-asked questions sent to RCAI and this website:

Q. What is my item worth?

A. This is the most common question, but unfortunately we are unable to appraise items for several major reasons: (1) our organization cannot undertake the liability associated with appraisals; (2) according to experts, there are different types of appraisals that set different values depending on the situation, i.e., estate, IRS, insurance, and brokerage values; and (3) appraising items based on images or descriptions (as opposed to in-person) is not advisable and even risky, since details and condition cannot be accurately assessed.

Q. Is my item real or a fake?

A. See fakes and reproductions for some general information on what knowledgeable collectors have reported. This information is offered in "good faith" but comes with no guarantees. See disclaimer. Sorry but our policy is that we do not make judgments on the authenticity of specific, individual items for liability reasons.
